The Sylphæn Gate - Order
This piece makes my heart sing.. I'm of the Water kind, but have a fascination and love for those of Air (my Aquarian husband should explain it!).
And I'm in love with this necklace which is a portal, or gateway to this realm, the realm of the Sylphs.
A rather large slab of Bluelace Agate that very much resembles the sky and according to gemstone lore represents the element of Air, is framed with an intricate sculpture with a "wood" base surrounded by tendrils, a flower and random little "berries" from hand carved and painted clay.
The finish is in cool silver and lavender tones, but with a touch of golden washes for warmth and ageing patinas.
At the heart of the flower is an aquamarine rhinestone, as a sparkling surprise adding contrast.
A lavender-toned czech glass bead rondelle with brass and silver tone elements, holds an antiqued brass Faery charm whith light blue and lavender patina, harmonizing the colours of the gemstone above, drops from underneath the pendant, as a symbol and token of the Air element.
The pendant is supported by four, very steadily attached silver plated wire hooks, two on each side, from which silver plated chains in varying widths are attached.
Joining them on each side is a faceted czech glass bead in lavender tones, surrounded by a variety of brass tone elements and a baby blue lucite flower on top that harmonizes the colours, matching the blue from the gemstone pendant.
An antiqued brass butterfly charm dangles on the right, as another token and symbol of the element of Air.
The necklace can be adjusted from its maximum length to any shorter fit by attaching the silver plated hook to any link of the top chain.
Approximate measurements:
total length (from clasp to bottom of pendant): 38.5cm, adjustable
pendant length (including Faery charm): 12cm
pendant width: 4cm
